Hawkshead

Hawkshead is a picturesque village located on the western side of lake Windermere. It’s a popular spot for visitors and locals alike, offering a wealth of attractions related to its history, culture, and natural beauty.

Historical buildings like The George and Dragon pub, Hawkshead Hall, and the grammar school that inspired Beatrix Potter to add to its charm.

Langdale Valley

The Langdale Valley in the Lake District is one of England’s most breathtaking settings and attracts people from all over in search of breathtaking views and a range of outdoor activities. Situated between Ambleside and Grasmere, the valley is home to some of the district’s oldest settlements, with evidence having been found that people have resided there since the Bronze Age.

The area boasts one of the best landscapes for hiking in England, given its numerous trails that meander through peaceful woodland and lush pastures, as well as its remote fells – such as Lingmoor Fell, which provides panoramic views across the valley to Coniston Water.

In addition to hiking, plenty of other outdoor activities can be enjoyed in Langdale Valley – fly fishing on Elter Water is an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon while kayaking downriver can be equally fun.

As if that weren’t enough, there are also plenty of cultural attractions clustered around the village of Elterwater too. These include ancient stone structures such as Broadrake Stone circle or Buzzardstone, which date back before 4000 BC, making them two interesting places to explore.

When it comes time for refreshments after a long day exploring these monuments or simply lazing by its riverside meadows, visiting one of the many pubs will do just fine – with each venue offering its unique character that adds a certain charm to this beautiful part of England.
