The Market town of Kendal is steeped in history. Known as the gateway to the Lakes, Kendal lies on the banks of the River Kent and is less than a mile from the National Park boundary. Windermere is 8 miles from Kendal, linked by bus, road and train, making it a great choice when looking for holiday cottages near the Lake District.

What’s good to visit in Kendal

Characterised by the narrow yards and lanes branching from the main street, many of which contain residences and quirky shops. Market days are Wednesday and Saturday, but there is also a great choice of artisan bakeries and shops alongside a choice of eateries, gastro pubs, real ale bars.
