Duddon Valley Cottages are two lovely two-bedroom self-contained holiday cottages next door to each other in the stunning Duddon Valley near Broughton-in-Furness.
Hiring two cottages next door to each other is ideal for two families to holiday together while maintaining an element of privacy. The gate between the rear gardens can be opened to allow easy access between the two properties.
The Duddon Valley is locally known as the "Jewel in the Crown of the Lake District", primarily due to the fabulous scenery visible from all the windows of both Lake District Cottages.
Both cottages have been refurbished, and the owners were careful to retain many of the original features; coupled with modern touches, you'll surely enjoy comfortable accommodation for your next Lake District holiday.
The ground floor is spacious and open, combining the living area with two three-seat sofas, a wood-burning stove, and a dining area with a four-place dining table. The utility room leads off the living area, perfect for hanging your wet walking gear after a day out on the local fells.
The galley-style kitchen also leads off from the living area. It is modern and supplies all the mod-cons, including a dishwasher. After all, nobody wants to wash dishes on holiday. You can cook up a family meal quickly if you do not fancy eating out at the local pub.
Upstairs are two lovely bedrooms, both en-suite, including a shower, basin, and toilet! The views from both bedrooms are of the fells and farmland.
Outside is an enclosed courtyard with garden furniture. The courtyard looks out, over farmland and grazing sheep, to the river Duddon.
Riverside Cottage is a traditional, two-bedroom white-washed cottage situated in the pretty village of Seathwaite, six miles into the beautiful Duddon Valley, flanked on either side by fells, making it an excellent choice for a holiday in the Lake District.
Like Duddon View, the ground floor is also spacious. The original slate floor, wooden beams and the fab window seat with a view of Caw Fell have all been retained. A large log-burning fire and comfy sofas make the living room a wonderfully relaxing space to enjoy after exploring the Lake District. There are over 200 books to choose from and a selection of games and DVDs available.
Also on the ground floor, leading off from the living room, is the dining area with a dining table and chairs, and a cast iron feature fireplace, and the kitchen, complete with modern appliances, including an electric oven and hob perfect for cooking up a family meal, and a dishwasher for the aftermath. After all, who wants to be washing dishes on holiday?
Adjoining the kitchen is a casual sitting area looking out over farmland and a meadow to the river Duddon. Imagine sitting with a cup of tea in the morning, watching the birds feed and the grazing sheep wander. The large garden to the rear is accessed via French doors off the kitchen, and guests have use of the outdoor furniture.
On the first floor are the two lovely bedrooms, with views of the fells and the countryside, a king-size double, and a twin (which can be made into a super-king double on request). An optional pull-out bed in the twin bedroom is available for a young child. On the landing, outside the bedrooms, is a shower room with a walk-in shower, toilet and basin, and heated towel rail, and a second bathroom with a roll-top bath, basin, toilet, and heated towel rail.
