The Hermitage

Penrith
Sleeps 4
Bedrooms 2

The Hermitage is a self-contained two-bedroom lodge with wooden decking and a hot tub, that sits within the beautiful grounds of Lonsdale Villa Retreat.

Tucked under a large Beech tree and surrounded by shrubbery and flowers, the lodge and the wooden decking are a sanctuary for relaxation, perhaps with a good book and a G&T or simply admiring the views over Penrith to the fells beyond.

The lodge is all on one level, so it's perfect for guests with limited mobility; the interior is beautifully decorated and comprises two bedrooms, one of which is double and the other a twin/single with luxury 400 thread count Egyptian cotton bedding. A shower room, a fully-equipped kitchen, a dining area and a living area with comfy sofa seating, a TV with Sky Satellite channels, a music system and an Alexa speaker.

To the rear of the lodge, in a secluded area under the trees, is the 3-person Jacuzzi as well as a hot outside shower, again a great place to relax, having a drink from the outside bar. With the soft lighting glowing and the warm water relaxing you into the secluded embrace of this oasis of calm, it’s a haven you will not want to leave.

Note: The Hermitage can be hired in conjunction with the Lonsdale Villa, which is also situated on the grounds of Lonsdale Villa Retreat, expanding total occupancy to 18 guests.

About the location

The Hermitage is situated within the grounds of Lonsdale Villa Retreat and enjoys an elevated position overlooking the market town of Penrith, yet only a 15-minute stroll to the town centre, where you will find a choice of supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and pubs, including The Druid Arms, The Woolpack Inn or Dappers Bar.

The town is perfectly placed for exploring the north and the south lakes as well as the Yorkshire Dales, with excellent transport links. If you are travelling to the area by public transport, Penrth Train Station is situated on the Westcoast Mainline between London and Glasgow.

There is lots to do locally, including historic excursions to the historic ruins of the 14th-century Penrith Castle, Brougham Castle, Clifton Hall or the breathtaking Lowther Castle and Gardens and Long Meg and her daughters (the 3rd largest stone circle in England), all just a short drive from the House.

Outdoor enthusiasts will be in their element thanks to the abundance of walking, hiking and cycling trails on offer in the Lake District National Park. Head to Ullswater Lake to admire the Aira Force Waterfall or embark on Brae Fell, Great Mell Fell and Nethermost Pike hiking trails.
