Sedbergh & Dent

Sedbergh is a small town situated in the East of Cumbria. Although a Cumbrian village, it lies within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Well known in Sedbergh is Sedbergh School. A public school established in 1525 and keeping ties with education, Sedbergh is also England’s official “book town”. It has several independent bookshops and dealers along the narrow main street.

Historically, the long-standing industries were farming and producing woollen garments, including socks and hats. Visitors can learn more about the ancient trade at the Farfield Mill, an exhibition of weaving equipment and workshops for several artists and crafts workers.

The location of Sedbergh is ideal for visitors who wish to explore the local fells, or perhaps the Yorkshire Dales. Both Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale are 10-miles away – both equally popular destinations.

Herdwick Cottages have a great range of lodges, cottages, glamping units and apartments available for those who want to make the most of their trip to Sedbergh.
