Have you been looking for two Lake District holiday properties next door to each other? Perhaps you are two couples holidaying together but still require that element of privacy. Well, Amma Barn Apartments is the answer.

Situated in the quaint village of Shap, a short drive from Ullswater, Penrith and Kendal, Amma Barn Apartments are two adjoining 1-bedroom apartments that make up the recent conversion of a traditional Cumbrian bank barn.

Both apartments have been decorated and furnished to a high standard throughout to provide fantastic holiday accommodation with that sense of home away from home, comprising of a double bedroom (one of which can be made up as a twin), a modern shower room, fitted kitchen and comfy sofa seating. On the warmer evenings, the front patio space is a magnificent sun trap!

The Cumbrian village benefits from three great pubs; however, if you fancy dining in, each apartment is furnished with a 4-seat dining table and plenty of crockery and cutlery so you can dine together with your friends. The Local Coop Store is well stocked for groceries if required.

Overall, the two apartments make for a fantastic holiday in the Lake District for two couples or perhaps friends while still maintaining an element of privacy in your own apartment.

Bedroom: Super kingsize double zip & link bed (can be made as a twin on request), wardrobe, chest of drawers.
Bathroom: Large walk-in shower, basin and toilet. Heated towel rail.
Outside: Small patio garden with seating (not enclosed).

Tan Apartment

Living area: Spacious open plan layout with heated stone flooring, sofa, wall-mounted 43" Smart TV, and dining table for two.

About the location

Shap Village is a quaint village in the East of Cumbria nestled between the Westmorland Dales & Lake District National Parks and the Eden Valley, 10 miles South of Penrith and just a 5-minute drive from Junction 39 of the M6 motorway.

This historic village is a key accommodation stop-over point for walkers undertaking the Coast2Coast route from St Bees on the west coast to Robin Hood's Bay on the east coast, giving the area a real buzz, particularly in the summer months.

The village has three pubs, plus a CoOp grocery store and a great fish and chip takeaway, ideal for nights when you don't fancy cooking in the apartment.

Shap is perfect for walkers, too, thanks to the variety of walking trails nearby in Swindale or around the Haweswaer Reservoir. A little further afield is Ullswater, where you'll find the Helveyllen range amongst other great fells walks. Ullswater is also home to the Ullswater Steamers - a fleet of heritage boats that sail along the length of Ullswater - popular for the fantastic scenery.

Another popular nearby attraction is Lowther Castle and Gardens, with something for all ages. Sadly, today, the castle lies in ruins, surrounded by gardens within gardens and an adventure playground to rival the best in the land.

Overall, Shap is a great base from which to explore the South and the North Lake District, and we are sure you'll enjoy the stunning scenery, friendly locals and wonderful accommodation.
