Duddon View is a beautiful two-bedroom stone-built holiday cottage in the scenic Duddon Valley, surrounded by fells, open farmland and grazing animals.
The Duddon Valley is locally known as the "Jewel in the Crown of the Lake District", primarily due to the fabulous scenery visible from all the windows of this newly-refurbished Lake District Cottage.
The cottage combines many of the original features of a cottage of its age, including the fantastic stone fireplace. It combines this with modern touches to create a wonderful home-away-from-home with a warm and comfortable feel.
The ground floor is spacious and open, combining the living area with two three-seat sofas, a 40-inch smart TV, a wood-burning stove, and a dining area with a four-place dining table. The utility room leads off the living area, perfect for hanging your wet walking gear after a day out on the local fells.
The galley-style kitchen also leads off from the living area. It is modern and supplies all the mod-cons, including a dishwasher. After all, nobody wants to wash dishes on holiday. If you do not fancy eating out at the local pub, you can cook up a family meal quickly.
Upstairs are two lovely bedrooms, both en-suite, including a shower, basin, and toilet! The views from both bedrooms are of the fells and farmland.
Outside is an enclosed courtyard with garden furniture. The courtyard looks out, over farmland and grazing sheep, to the river Duddon.
Overall, Duddon View is an excellent property to rent for family holidays or perhaps two couples, given the two en-suite bedrooms, and your dogs are welcome too!
Duddon View is next door to Riverside Cottage, together called Duddon Valley cottages, which can be hired together as a holiday cottage for eight guests plus an additional child using the pull-out bed. This is a fantastic option for two families to holiday together while keeping an element of privacy. The gate between the courtyard of Duddon View and the large lawn garden of River Cottage can be opened to provide easy access between the two properties.
The Duddon Valley is an unspoilt region in Cumbria resting within The Lake District National Park. This breathtaking region features rolling countryside hills, cascading fells, riverbanks, and deep forests, an ideal location for avid walkers, birdwatchers and cyclists.
Attractions include Swinside Stone Circle, a mysterious historical site, and the Hard Knott Pass. For dining, The Newfield Inn is less than one mile away. Alternatively, the Blacksmiths Arms, The Black Cock Inn and the Old Kings Head in nearby Broughton-in-Furness are also great options.
Settled close to the Duddon River Estuary is the historical village of Millom. Here, you can marvel at Victorian buildings, and worth a visit is the 14th-century remains of Millom Castle.
