Laburnum Cottage

Windermere
Sleeps 4
Bedrooms 2
Dog Friendly

Laburnum Cottage is a gorgeous cottage situated one street back from the High Street in a quiet square. This two-bedroom property has recently been decorated with contemporary decor, perfectly balanced by stunning traditional-style features.

The all-ground-floor property is perfect for a small family or a couple looking for a central base to explore the Lake District, and two well-behaved dogs are permitted too.

Enter the property into a hallway where you can hang your coats and store your shoes. Further is the open-plan living and dining area that leads to the well-appointed kitchen, with the back door to the garden area.

Outside there is off road parking and an enclosed patio garden with furniture, surrounded by a stone banked wall so you can enjoy this relaxing space's privacy, perhaps with a BBQ.

The Windermere village centre is on your doorstep. Less than a 1-minutes walk away, you'll find pubs, bars, cafés, a supermarket, a post office and lots of shops to explore, while the Bowness and the Windermere Lake Cruises is less than a mile away.

The property has two bedrooms, a king-size double bedroom and a twin bedroom, which would be ideal for children; both rooms are styled with neutral tones, are spacious and have lots of storage provided, while the master bedroom has a wonderful dressing area and dressing table, where you can get ready in style.

The bathroom features a double walk-in shower, beautifully tiled grey walls, a towel rail and underfloor heating.

Windermere

About the location

Windermere is a popular location for visitors largely due to the wide selection of shops, bars and eateries, plus the close proximity to Windermere Train Station that connects to the West Coast mainline between London Euston and Glasgow Central. Windermere is also well-serviced with public transport including the popular 555 Lakes Explorer bus service offering great value.

A short walk away is Bowness-on-Windermere, where you will find more attractions including the Windermere Lake Cruises, self-hire boats, The Beatrix Potter Attraction and more. The Lake Cruises link to Lakeside in the South for the Haverthaite Railway and the Lakes Aquarium. And to Brockhole and Ambleside to the North end of the Lake.

Ferry Nab Ferry operates between Bowness and Near Sawrey. Travel across the Lake by foot, bicycle or car to reach Grizedale Forrest as well as Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey.

Nearby is Ambleside, less than five miles away, where you can enjoy more spectacular walks around Loughrigg Fell and Rydal Water, where you will see Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount, both former homes of famous poet William Wordsworth.

The market town of Kendal is well worth a visit; filled with grey limestone buildings, which fittingly contributed to its nickname 'Auld Grey Town', you will find plenty of arts and culture, with live music, art and theatre as well as several museums to enjoy, including the Museum of Lakeland Life & Industry, along with its own Medieval castle ruins and the Manor House & Gardens of stunning Elizabethan Levens Hall.
