Perched proudly atop School Hill in the charming village of Lindale, Macallan is a beautifully presented detached holiday home that perfectly combines contemporary style with the warmth and character you'd hope for in a Lake District retreat. Step inside and you'll find a light-filled, modern interior with quality furnishings throughout — but it's the elevated position that truly sets this property apart. From the generous front roof terrace, framed by elegant glass balustrading, the views stretch out over the rooftops of Lindale towards the distant Ingleborough Fells, providing a breathtaking backdrop whether you're enjoying your morning coffee or firing up the gas BBQ of an evening.

At the heart of the home is a superb open-plan living and dining space — an inviting room designed for relaxing and entertaining in equal measure. Sink into the plush sofa beside the Morsø wood burning stove, catch up on your favourite shows via the 40" Smart TV with Sky, or gather the whole group around the elegant six-seat glass dining table for a long, leisurely dinner. The well-appointed kitchen is a cook's delight, boasting a six-ring gas hob, ample worktop space, a handy breakfast counter, and every appliance you could need — making self-catering here an absolute pleasure rather than a chore.

Macallan sleeps six across three well-proportioned bedrooms, with the lower ground floor offering two king-size double rooms — one of which benefits from a luxurious en-suite featuring a large corner bath. Please note that the whirlpool jets have been disabled. With a dedicated utility room, plentiful parking, and thoughtful touches throughout, Macallan really does offer everything a group of friends or a family could wish for.

Whether you're here to explore the fells, visit nearby Cartmel Racecourse — a mere four miles away — or simply to unwind and soak up the unbeatable surroundings, Macallan provides the ideal base. This is the Lake District at its very finest: accessible, unspoilt, and utterly unforgettable.

About the location

Lindale is a delightful, characterful village nestled within the Lake District National Park — a place that manages to feel genuinely off the beaten track whilst remaining wonderfully connected to the best the region has to offer. The village offers a well-regarded village pub with a strong reputation for excellent food, a bowling club, and the village primary school. The M6 motorway is approximately 15 minutes away by car, making Macallan a surprisingly easy destination to reach from all parts of the country.

The beautiful market town of Grange-over-Sands lies just two miles from the doorstep, offering everything guests could need for a comfortable stay. The southern shores of Lake Windermere are a similar 15-minute drive away, opening up the full wealth of Lake District activities — from boat hire and fell walking to world-class galleries and Michelin-starred dining. Windermere Lake Cruises port at Lakeside, at the southern tip of Windermere, from where you can sail north to Bowness and Ambleside, or simply stay on board for a great circular trip.

Guests with an interest in horse racing will be delighted to find Cartmel Racecourse — one of the most charming and intimate racecourses in England — just four miles away, making Macallan an ideal base for a racing weekend. The medieval village of Cartmel itself is well worth a visit, famous for its twelfth-century priory, its celebrated sticky toffee pudding, and an outstanding collection of independent food and drink producers.
