Pinewood Cottage

Finsthwaite
Sleeps 6
Bedrooms 3
Dog Friendly
Pinewood Cottage is a gorgeous three-bedroom holiday cottage, half a mile from Lakeside, home to the Lakes Aquarium, the Haverthwaite Railway and the southern Pier for Windermere Cruise boats with sailings to Bowness and Ambleside.

The property used to house the workers of the adjacent 19th Century Bobbin Mill, which is now an interesting museum to visit but has since become a wonderful holiday home for up to six guests.

Entry to the holiday cottage takes you into the spacious, beautiful kitchen with a large central dining table. If you aren't eating out at one of the many lake district pubs, cafes or restaurants, this is an excellent space for family or friends to gather and cook up a storm while discussing the day's activities.

Off the kitchen is the spacious living room with dual aspect windows, comfy sofas, an internet-enabled TV (full fibre broadband), and a log-burning stove - perfect for the chiller months. However, there is central heating throughout.

Upstairs are three lovely bedrooms: two standard doubles, a king-size double, and the modern family bathroom.

Outside is a fenced patio area with a table and chairs; this is ideal if you fancy alfresco dining! Pinewood Cottage also benefits from a private double garage, so you can securely store your bicycles or hang up your walking gear.

Pinewood Cottages is perfect as a central base to explore the wider Lake District areas, including Windermere, Hawkshead, Coniston and Ulverston.
Guests have complimentary use of the nearby Swan Hotel Health Club facilities, including the state-of-the-art air-conditioned gym, the sauna, the steam room and the indoor swimming pool.

Finsthwaite

About the location

Surrounded by lush green woodland, the local area of Finsthwaite is beautiful at any time of the year. There are plenty of walks nearby, including one of our personal favourites, a circular walk through the woods to High Dam. You also get fantastic views of the length of Windermere.

For the more adventurous guests, Grizedale Forest with cycle tracks suitable for all levels, and the Go Ape tree top adventure course is six miles away.

Cartmel, a 15-minute drive away, is home to the UK's smallest race course, but don't let that put you off, as it holds fantastic race days throughout the summer months. The village also has the ancient 12th-century priory, and it is also home to the original sticky toffee pudding. If you fancy fine dining, try the famous L’enclume or sister restaurant Rogan and Co, which both have Michelin stars, but do make sure you book in advance.
