Cowan Bridge

About the location

Cowan Bridge is a small rural village with an excellent general store & newsagents and a café/ tearoom. The award-winning four-rosette Hipping Hall Restaurant is just a 2-minutes drive away. If you fancy spoiling yourselves, then this is a great treat. Head Chef Oli Martin is well known and hugely respected.

The beautiful and historic market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is 2.5-miles away and full of small independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. The town benefits from a Booths supermarket and a traditional market every Thursday selling local produce! On the first week of September, the town hosts a Victorian fair with a friendly street vibe.

You can walk to Kirkby Lonsdale from the cottage or park (for free) at Devil’s bridge (just before the turning to Kirkby Lonsdale and a beautiful picnic spot!). There is a lovely dog-friendly walk along the River Lune to the "Radical Steps", stone steps that take you up into St Mary's churchyard. From here you can see ‘Ruskin’s view’ and walk through the churchyard to the town centre - it's lovely to walk!

To the East is Ingleton. If you love adventure and the great outdoors, you will love the charming village of Ingleton. The Ingleton waterfall trail offers stunning scenery with a mix of waterfalls, rocks, woodland and farmland. The circular route starts and finishes in the village centre. There are some great pubs in Ingleton too, and it's only 5 miles from Ingleborough, one of the Yorkshire three peaks!

All-in-all, this is a fantastic holiday cottage in a great location! Perfect for a family holiday.
