Dog Friendly

22 Thrang Brow is in the most enviable of locations, deep into the Great Langdale valley, close to the village of Chapel Stile. Here you can enjoy views of some really special Lakeland scenery from the comfort of this dog-friendly contemporary-style townhouse. If fell walking is your thing, there can be few areas better for access to the high fells of central Lakeland - The famous Langdale Pikes, Crinkle Crags, and Lingmoor can be walked from the door. Low-level valley walks are great too, whether up the Great Langdale valley, or back towards Elterwater, you can take advantage of the valley bus service to do a one-way walk with bus back - the bus runs from early morning to well into the evening (great for an early film and meal in Ambleside). Nothing could be nicer than a valley walk followed by lunch at great local places such as The Britannia Inn at Elterwater, Chesters at Skelwith Bridge, or Lanty Slees at Elterwater - what better way to enjoy a day in the Lakes?

Set over three floors with one double and two twin rooms, families or adult groups of all sorts will find the set-up flexible, and thanks to the three bathroom facilities, there are never any queues to use the facilities. Enter the property at the rear where there is off-road parking for two cars. On the ground floor, there is a twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom (shower over bath) and a handy utility room with both a washing machine and a dryer. The middle floor is open-plan with the lounge area and the kitchen /dining area. The kitchen is well designed with plenty of storage and worktop space and fitted with quality appliances, to include a double oven and dishwasher. The lounge area has the benefit of both a woodburner and the superb view towards Lingmoor. Here, there is also a porch leading to the outdoor space where there is a bench for you to enjoy the fresh air and views across the valley. Upstairs again to the other two bedrooms. The double bedroom has an en-suite shower room and the twin room has an en-suite with a shower over the bath, as well as underfloor heating. 22 Thrang View is an excellent base for families or groups of adults wanting to enjoy the great outdoors and perhaps visit the great choice of local places to eat out.

Chapel Stile is an excellent base for all sorts of outdoor adventure, whether you are a fell walker, climber, or mountain biker, you can set out straight from the door. The village shop is a 5 minute walk away and is well stocked with essentials. Just beyond the shop you will find Wainwrights Inn which is very popular with walkers.

About the location

The Great Langdale Valley is famed for its jaw dropping mountain scenery. This really is the heart of the Lake District's best valley and fell walking territory. You can fill a week with walks in this area without ever using your car. If the weather is not ideal for the fell tops, the valley walks head both west (towards the famous New, and Old Dungeon Ghyll pubs) and east towards to the picturesque village of Elterwater with its well regarded Britannia Inn pub. In Elterwater there is also a good cafe. The legacy of the old slate mining industry can be explored with walks to places such as Cathedral Cave which is over in the parallel valley of Little Langdale.

The Langdale Valley is really a great place for pubs and places to eat out. Here are just some of the places to try: Wainwrights Inn, New Dungeon Ghyll, Old Dungeon Ghyll, Slates Cafe (Elterwater), Lanty Slees (Elterwater) Talbot Bar (Skelwith Bridge), Chesters (Skelwith Bridge).

A year round bus (Number 516) service runs from Ambleside to the end of the Great Langdale Valley (terminates at the Old Dungeon Ghyll pub). The service runs from early morning until well into the evening so if you want to visit Ambleside (cinemas, restaurants etc.) you can leave the car and take a price capped bus (max single fare £3 at 2025 prices). Also within easy reach is the village of Coniston, and Coniston Water where you can enjoy a cruise on the lake on the solar powered ferry or the magnificent Steam Yacht Gondola. If the weather isn't fit for outdoor activities, Ambleside is just 5 miles away and there you have a good range of shops and loads of great places to eat. Zeffirelli's (and Fellini's) Cinema have screens at no less than three sites in the town and they do a very popular meal and film deal. Live jazz is scheduled year-round at Zeffirelli's too, so you can have quite the night out in Amblesde!
